HEALTHCARE

Greek students of the “European Regional Development Management” Program who do not have other health and hospital care coverage are entitled to full healthcare coverage under the National Health System (NHS), with the related costs covered by the National Organization for the Provision of Health Services (EOPYY).

Foreign students of the Program “European Regional Development Management” who do not have other health and hospital care coverage are entitled to full healthcare coverage under the NHS, with the related costs covered by EOPYY, by obtaining the European Health Insurance Master of Science Program in “European Regional Development Management” UNIVERSITY OF THESSALY UNIVERSITY OF ATHENS Card (EHIC).

The costs incurred are covered by the University of Thessaly services. For this purpose, the University of Thessaly services obtain access to the Electronic Registry of Uninsured Citizens (ERUC) maintained by the Electronic Governance of Social Security (IDIKA).

ADVISOR

Students of ERDM who need information and assistance in organizing their studies can contact their Academic Advisor. The Academic Advisor is a faculty member from the Departments and is appointed in the first academic.
 
Graduate students can, if they wish, choose a different Academic Advisor during the semester, after submitting a justified request to the Coordinating Committee of the Graduate Program. Each graduate student has the opportunity to contact their assigned Academic Advisor to be informed about issues related to the Curriculum, course selection, and the overall organization of their studies. Students can also approach their Academic Advisor in cases of inappropriate behavior or insufficient guidance from teaching or administrative staff, as well as for issues related to their evaluation.
 
To provide substantial support to graduate students regarding their studies, Academic Advisors collaborate, where necessary, with: • The Student Support Structure for Students with Disabilities and/or Special Educational Needs – “ACCESS” (https://www.uth.gr/zoi/yposthrixi/prosbasi- kai-anapiria), • The Student Counseling Service of the Laboratory of Psychology and Applications in Education (https://www.uth.gr/zoi/yposthrixi/symbouleythki), • The Support Structure of the University of Thessaly for cases of harassment and bullying (https://www.uth.gr/zoi/yposthrixi/parenohlisi-ekfobismos). 

ERASMUS+

The ERASMUS+ initiative concerns European cooperation in the field of higher education by promoting transnational collaboration among universities and increasing European mobility. It also aims to enhance transparency and promote full academic recognition of studies and qualifications throughout the European Union.Specifically, it includes:

• Organized exchanges of students for recognized periods of study

• Organized exchanges of students for internships

• Mobility of teaching staff for teaching purposes

• Language preparation for outgoing and incoming students and staff • Short-term intensive teaching programs

• Language studies combined with other academic disciplines

• Implementation of open and distance learning methods The objectives of student mobility for studies within the Erasmus+ framework are:

• To provide opportunities for students to benefit linguistically, culturally, and educationally from experiences in other European countries

• To enrich the educational environment of the host institution • To promote collaboration among participating institutions

• To contribute to the overall improvement of society by equipping young people with high specialization, broad perspectives, and international experience, aiming to develop the professionals of the future Within the Erasmus+ initiative, interested students of the Master’s Program can travel to universities in the European Union and Turkey, with which the University of Thessaly has established bilateral agreements to date.

LIBRARY

The Master’s Program has a lending library through which graduate students residing or visiting Volos can borrow textbooks related to their courses. The lending library can also be used as a reading room, where students can study and read the materials available. Additionally, students have access to the Central Library of the University of Thessaly.

The university library relies significantly on its electronic library (e-library). It maintains subscriptions to electronic databases, scientific journals, and articles essential for research. The collection of the central library includes over 90,000 volumes in Greek, English, and other languages, as well as audiovisual materials (transparencies, videotapes, cassettes, etc.), online databases, e-books, and other electronic materials (CD-ROMs, DVDs, etc.). I

t also has 450 printed subscriptions to scientific journals and provides users with electronic access to another 27,000 electronic journals via its website (http://www.lib.uth.gr). To become a member of the University of Thessaly Library, a student must complete and submit a membership application to the Central Library or any of its branches. Submitting the application implies acceptance of all articles of the current Regulations.

The University of Thessaly Library operates as a lending library, granting borrowing rights to all its members. WELFARE

he provisions and facilities for student welfare apply to those students who meet the necessary requirements. The University of Thessaly has an Access Structure for students with disabilities and special educational needs. FACILITIES

The postgraduate program “European Regional Development Management” operates at the facilities of the Department of Planning and Regional Development (DPRD) at the University of Thessaly (UTH), in a building with a total area of 7,500 m2, located on the Engineering Campus in the city of Volos. The program has access to the teaching and research space, equipment, and administrative structure of DPRD, including:

a) A Teaching Room equipped with 35 computers connected to the internet, with all necessary software packages installed,

b) Additional teaching rooms upon request

c) A Development Policy Laboratory, with 10 workstations, serving research needs in the field of development policy, with a focus on the regional scale,

d) A Department Specialized Library, containing the main books in the field of development, which are also included in the curriculum of the program’s courses.

e) Administrative and technical assistance by specialized personnel. The funding for the program is primarily based on tuition fees. Additional sources of funding may include donations, grants, and any kind of financial assistance, donations, resources from research projects or programs, or any other legal sources. The financial resources of the program are allocated as follows:

e-a) 30% of the funds from tuition fees and 12% of funds from other sources are overheads retained by the UTH ELKE

e-b) 70% of the funds from tuition fees and 88% of the funds from donations, grants, and other financial sources are allocated to the operational needs of the Program.

Graduation

The graduation ceremony takes place in the facilities of the Department of Planning and Regional Development and can be attended by graduating Master’s students either in person or online. The Dean of the School of Engineering, the Head of DPRD, and the Director of the Program award students with their degrees.

STUDENT ADVOCATE

The “Student Advocate” has key responsibilities that include mediation between students and teaching staff or administrative services of the institution, ensuring compliance with legality within the framework of academic freedom, addressing issues of misadministration, and safeguarding the smooth operation of the institution.
