
Spyros Niavis is an Associate Professor of Regional Economics at the Department of Planning and Regional Development, University of Thessaly, and a member of the Laboratory for Policy and Development Program Evaluation. He is a member of the Economic Chamber of Greece and the European Regional Science Association (Greek Section – ERSA).
He teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses including: Political Economy, Public Economics and Public Administration, Regional Economics, Urban Economics and Development, Project and Investment Evaluation, and Economics of Sustainable Development.
His research interests include efficiency and productivity analysis, sustainability assessment of organizations and interventions, policy evaluation, and regional economics and development. He has published more than 70 scientific papers in journals, edited volumes, and conference proceedings, and has participated in 39 research projects.
His research focuses primarily on Southeastern Europe and the Mediterranean region.
